Pedalling to Raise Funds for Landulph Orchard Green

Between 8 Jan 2024 and 17 Feb 2024, Peter, who lives in Landulph and is one of the 3 skinny bikers cycled 2600km from Ho Chi Minh City to Singapore for fun (!) and to raise funds for Landulph Orchard Green. The Just Giving page has so far raised 335 pounds - this will go towards a shelter in Duke Orchard against all the rain and ideally (if we can raise enough funds) a composting toilet.
The 3 skinny bikers are all retired gentlemen with wanderlust in their DNA. Bob and Richard have worked as surveyors in the Far East for many years and Peter in the UK as lecturer in art and design. They first got together in 2010 to cycle from Hanoi to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) and since then have been reunited for similar adventures in Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar and Europe.
Richard is the 'path finder' and route planner with Bob and Peter in support keeping an eye on Richard's appetite to 'boldly go' into the unknown. They aim to have adventures, eat the local cuisine, soak up the culture and find out how the countries they cycle through 'tick'.

Their journey took them from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, through Cambodia and Thailand and into Malaysia to Singapore. Sometimes they took a train, bus or ferry and cycled through some beautiful countryside, meeting some smiling locals and sampling some interesting food. They were tracked on their route by the children at Landulph School.
In total the ride raised £335 for Landulph Orchard Green. This project is almost entirely funded by grants and donations so the LOG Working Group are very grateful to Peter and his fellow riders.
5 - 7 Jan: Arriving in Ho Chi Minh City

13 Jan: Phnom Penh (0 km)
School children visiting the memorial to all those who were executed by the Khmer Rouge and imprisoned/tortured in the notorious S21 prison formally a school. The Khmer Rouge regime came to an end in 1979.
15 Jan: Angkor Wat (45km)

18 Jan: Sereysophom to Battenbang (70 km)
A kind, welcoming face at a breakfast stop in Cambodia. A poor country striving for success and wealth. The reality vs the dream is for many too obvious.
Jan 26: Ranong to Khura Buri (115 km)
Hard cycling through a tropical landscape.
Jan 27: Khura Buri to Khao Lak (88 km)
A tempting glimpse of the sea.
Jan 31: Ko Lanta to Trang (80km and ferry)
So now on Day 23 from Ko Lanta via ferry we have come back to the mainland and cycled, 9.00 am start, 80 km to Trang, heading to Penang and Malaysia.

Feb 10: Rest day in Kuala Lumper
A rest day in KL seeing the sites and fueling the body. Petronas Twin Towers - the architect, Cesar Pelli. Truly an architectual wonder. And another side to the city!
Feb 17: Johor Bahru to Singapore (34 km)
Across the causeway. We have arrived, journey's end. 2600 km in total. 08/01/24 to 17/02/24.
